Elena is an engineer in the X-ray Imaging Laboratory at ELI-NP (Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics) since 2020. She graduated from the Faculty of Medical Engineering at the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest (UPB) in 2016 and also received a master's degree in Medical Informatics Systems from the Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers at the same university in 2018. Currently, she is a PhD student at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (UPB) where she studies the integration of vertical graphene in electrochemical biosensors for the identification of different types of cancer cells. Elena joined Nicoleta Safca in the X-ray Imaging Laboratory, contributing to its development phases and continuing with phase-contrast X-ray imaging studies for medical and industrial applications, using new X-ray sources produced with the lasers from ELI-NP. Her main research directions are focused on the study of electrochemical sensors based on vertical graphene and phase-contrast imaging to reduce radiation dose in tissues. Elena believes that sharing experiences with others can help us learn from each other, and AFIST is the link to a community that wants to grow and develop in technical fields.
