Dose of Science, Engineering and Tech
At AFIST we want to build a sustainable future, to outline viable development in a world where people from different backgrounds and with different abilities can become main actors in society, actively contributing to its continuous development.
Dose of Science, Engineering, and Tech is a program developed for young people, students, and not only, who want to invest in their professional careers. Through this program, we want to bring participants as close as possible to the reality of the field in which they want to work. This program is composed of events consisting of visits to different companies/institutes in several fields of activity.
The first visit of this program was to the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) nuclear unit on February 28. In Romania, the only producer of energy of nuclear origin is represented by our partner, SN Nuclearelectrica (SNN). The participants were presented here what Candu technology is, Nuclearelectrica company, the activities of Cernavoda NPP, and what nuclear energy means. At the same time, they also visited the Full Scope Simulator and the control rooms of the two nuclear units.

The event was a real success, in which participants eager for knowledge made connections with people in the field they are passionate about and are interested in. This is apparent from their feedback which you can see below:
It was a very interesting experience from which I learned many new things. It's something I've wanted to do for a very long time because I'm interested in nuclear physics, but I haven't had the opportunity before.
I liked the organization and the idea of visiting some places that were not so easy to access. Overall, a brilliant experience.
The experience was very nice. The coordinators were very involved, and I am glad that I had the opportunity to meet them. The visit was very well organized, I will participate in other events organized by this association!
It was pleasant and interesting with the AFIST team. The team members warmly guided us and welcomed us. Also, they presented us the future projects they are preparing. The proposal to go to the Power Plant was welcomed because I’m a student at the Polytechnic, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and I’m interested in this field. Although I still don't know what the future holds, this experience certainly gave me food for thought.
It was an amazing experience. I learned a lot of things, and I started telling everyone about the things I saw.
AFIST wants to invest in people and show them as closely as possible a wide range of fields of activity in places that are not accessible to the general public, but which are an essential pillar of their field. We thank all participants in this event, as well as our partners from SNN!!
Keep an eye on us for other interesting visits!
